This picture makes me so happy I don’t even know what to do with myself. Apologies if you’ve already seen it on our social media channels, but I feel like these floors deserve their own standalone newsletter update too.
I am completely overjoyed and obsessed with the beauty of them. I keep wandering downstairs to gaze at them again to confirm they are just as magical as I remembered.
They took much longer to arrive than we had expected (teen weeks rather than ten days), but I'm so glad we didn't compromise on our vision.
Next up is sealing and waxing these precious tiles, then priming and painting the walls a pale buttercream, and then we move in the furniture and fridge and freezer and stock the shelves.
We are hoping to get all of that done in the next few weeks. Then at long last we can turn that "Closed" sign to "Open" and start selling groceries. Getting the kitchen open will take a bit longer, but hopefully not too long!
We've owned the building for almost a year now, and we never dreamed it would take this much time to get this far. But also we plan to be here for so long that the wait ends feeling like just the tiniest blip in this whole adventure.
If you’d like to be part of making this building as magical as possible, you can still pre-order a few ice cream cones (for yourself or someone else)! We would love to get our old soft serve machine fixed before the end of the summer, every bit helps.
Thanks so much for being here with us and cheering us on! ❦
